Join the International Water Management Institute in Lahore as a Communications Specialist. In its Lahore, Pakistan, office, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is looking to hire a Communications Specialist. The ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, and possess many skills.

Component 1 of the Water Resource Accountability in Pakistan (WRAP) Programmed, sponsored by the FCDO (Climate Resilient Solutions for Improving Water Governance – CRS-IWaG), requires the Communications Specialist to maintain and implement the Marking Plan.

The ideal candidate will also develop and execute the project’s branding strategy, which is a communication plan, to guarantee WRAP-compliant, high-quality results. The WRAP team at IWMI will get strong support in this position, and the public and important stakeholders will be informed of the lessons learned and triumphs. The Communications Specialist will present the work and objectives of WRAP Component 1 to a wide variety of audiences both at home and abroad, including the Pakistani government, IWMI, and FCDO, among others.

Position Duties Communications Specialist:

  • Create, revise, and execute the WRAP Communications Plan in accordance with all FCDO regulations and guidelines, as well as all periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly) communication materials.
  • To ensure full compliance with all FCDO rules and criteria, create, revise, and launch the WRAP Branding.
  • Analyze, modify, and polish reports in accordance with the WRAP Marketing Plan utilizing resources supplied by the Activity Lead.
  • Following the WRAP Marking Plan, draft activity briefs and design project posters/infographics, information sheets, and success stories.
  • Consistent with the WRAP Marking Plan, proactively create state-of-the-art media assets like films and social media articles.
  • To keep in touch with the FCDO Mission staff, the Team Leader, and IWMI Headquarters in a timely manner, it is important to organize outreach materials.
  • Make sure that everything that comes out of the communications department follows the rules that the Communications and Knowledge Management group has established, including the IWMI branding guidelines.
  • Create, direct, and edit promotional movies of project events and field operations to show off to the FCDO.
  • Keep track of all the WRAP project materials, including contact information, images, presentations, site visit materials, and press kits.
  • As needed by the Team Leader, draft speeches, news releases, and talking points.
  • Create and coordinate media briefings with relevant background information.
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date FCDO WRAP project information package for use in briefings and media releases.
  • Involve the FCDO in coordinating all project-related external outreach to the GoP and other interested parties.
  • Assist project personnel, FCDO, and counterparts with their inquiries regarding information, talking points, messaging, etc. Attend FCDO and stakeholder gatherings as a WRAP representative.
  • Create on-the-fly water-related communication materials for use in written, verbal, and social media interactions with a wide range of stakeholders, including the FCDO, the GoP, and internal personnel.
  • Whenever needed, arrange for photography and filming, and assist with the production of announcements, press releases, and social media postings to share during events.
  • To create WRAP communication materials, gather data from researchers.
  • Help cultivate cooperative partnerships with governmental agencies, nonprofits, and other interested parties.
  • With the help of the FCDO branding and marking guidelines, aid the research personnel at IWMI and its field office in generating project reports.
  • Fill out pertinent tasks as needed by the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader.

Requirements for the Position of Communications Specialist:

  • Proficiency in video editing software (such as Adobe Photoshop), content creation tools, and the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Showcasing proficiency in creating material for social media platforms.
  • Experience writing for a variety of media formats, including but not limited to press releases, web articles, and videos.
  • Ability to effectively plan events, interact with the media, and write for publication

  • Displays a commendable amount of independence, self-reliance, discretion, versatility, and adaptability.

  • Superior command of the English and Urdu languages, both written and spoken; fluent in both languages; adept at conveying ideas both orally and in writing.
  • Availability to reside in remote places over lengthy durations.
